The Ornament Stitcher

I have been stitching for several decades (!) now.   It all started after completing grad school when my dear friend Roberta announced that I needed a hobby !  (She was completely right btw,  I loved reading, music and movies and had briefly been called the glue gun queen, but I needed a REAL OBSESSION).  She took me to Leeward's to pick up a kit and the rest is pretty much history.  Over the years I've stitched all sorts of techniques, but my most constant focus has been stitching Christmas ornaments for friends and family.  And while I have may favorite designers, the majority of the designs I've stitched have come from Just Cross Stitch magazine Annual Ornaments issues   Below is one of favorite designs.  I stitched if for Dad, and made some minor alternations so that it looked like a llama !!  So imagine my delight when today I discovered through my cyber stitcher chapter of the EGA ( https://cyberstitchers.org )  that there is someo...

Hello World !

What’s in a name ?   Well in my case, I was named for my grandmother, Maria Rosa.  And years ago, when Arana Rosa Designs was launched - I wanted to honor both of my grandmothers.  Arana was my maternal grandmother’s family name and Rosa for my paternal grandmother.   Speaking of launches - today is my launch in cyberspace.  ‘Hello World’ is a nod to my formal education as an application programmer.  The first program I ever wrote on an Apple IIe in high school science club was similarly named.   The physical launch of Arana Rosa took place around 20 years ago.  I had been stitching for about 10 years and wanted to get into teaching and designing   The launch party was a small private affair attended by some close friend and my parents.   My Dad has passed away two years ago today and since he was always my biggest supporter, I will honor that original launch and include a message from him : Hello World !!  Standby for some fun stit...
